Oskar Lindblom and Oliver Wahlstrom Drop The Gloves [Fight]
Oskar Lindblom dropped the gloves with Oliver Wahlstrom with 4:24 left in the first, after the NY Islanders put up four in a row against the Philadelphia Flyers Saturday night.
Oliver Wahstrom is currently in his rookie year with Isles and had a few fights in the AHL, but is by no means know as a brawler. Oskar Lindblom has been with the Flyers since 2018, missed almost all of last season because of bone cancer and has never had a fight prior to this game.
Lindblom was the one who started the scrap in an attempt to spark his team and shut down the momentum that the Islanders kept building upon. Wahstrom, who collected two assists during the period, accepted the fight ten seconds after picking up the second point.
The fight may not have been a center ice, knockout heavy weight bout, but it still served its purpose. Though Lindblom may have lost the fight, he did slow the Islanders’ momentum and with 2:08 left in the first, Flyers', Joel Farabee potted a goal off a two-on-one rush started by Scott Laughton.
Two more turnovers led to the Islanders’ final two goals. Nate Prosser delivered Islanders' Beauvillier a gift wrapped pass, right on the tape from behind his own net. Beaeuvillier burried it top shelf, stick side to make it 5-1.
The next turnover came from a terrible pass/clearing attempt by Carter Hart. Josh Bailey knocked down Hart's clearing pass and dumped it in to a wide open net. Hart went behind the goal to play the puck and gave the puck the weakest of flicks that was easily picked off by Bailey.
The Islanders blew the Flyers out of the water with a 6-1 shellacking.
