Nathan MacKinnon Smashes Jakob Chychrun In The Chiclets [Video]
Nathan MacKinnon caught a four minute double minor when Jakob Chychrun tripped him causing a collision that saw Chychrun leave the ice bloodied.
Nathan MacKinnon led the Avalanche with a goal and two assists, while Samuel Girard, Gabriel Landeskog and Mikko Rantanen also produced multiple points.
The Coyotes led 2-0 early in the first period, but the Avalanche responded with tallies from Landeskog and Rantanen in the final six minutes to tie the game.
The Avalanche scored four unanswered goals and MacKinnon notched his 200th career goal. With 10.4 seconds left in the second period, McKinnon shot through a screen from Landeskog and gave the Avs the lead. Then, Valeri Nichushkin deflected Ryan Graves' shot early in the third period to make it 4-2 Avs.
Trailing 4-2 in the third period, the Coyotes got goals from Lawson Crouse and Phil Kessel to tie the game once again.
The game would go to overtime, but neither team could get the job done; shootout here we come.
The Yotes won the shootout 3-1 as each of its three scorers found the back of the net. This was the first shootout of the season for the Avalanche, who are now 3-3 in extra hockey this season.
