Mark Stone Busts Tomas Hertl's Nose [Fight]
Sharks Tomas Hertl dropped the gloves with Golden Knights Mark Stone for his first NHL fighting major, after Stone smashed Timo Meier with a stiff shoulder check into the glass.
The San Jose Sharks vs the Vegas Golden Knights game Wednesday night was one for the ages.
Matt Nieto opened up the scoring for the Sharks when he went backhander, top shelf making it 1-1. Less than two minutes later, MarioFerraro buried the puck with a wraparound into the net, giving San Jose the lead 2-1. Kevin Labanc extended that lead when he caught Fleury out of position and banked the puck off the Flower making it 3-1 Sharks.
Vegas began its comeback on its fourth power-play when, off a face-off, Cody Glass punched home a rebound from Shea Theodore’s blast to get the Golden Knights within one. It was Glass’ fourth of the season – all during a power play.
Stone had the secondary helper on the Cody Glass goal in the third period and a minute later, Stone dropped the gloves with Hertl.
The goals by Martinez came with 5:14 left in the third period gave the Golden Knights a 5-3 lead. Glass’ goal at the 6:43 mark of the third came just five seconds after a too-many-men call on the Sharks, as he cut San Jose’s lead to 3-2 and opened the floodgates for his team.
Ryan Reaves broke the tie during the third period when he deflected Tomas Nosek’s shot past Devan Dubnyk to give Vegas the lead. Reaves would have had two goals in this game, but one earlier was nullified when William Carrier was called for goalie interference
Two minutes later Martinez extended it to 5-3 with a power-play goal.
Evander Kane scored with 4:06 left in regulation, but it was too little, too late.
The Vegas Golden Knights rallied to a comback win over the San Jose Sharks 5-4.
