Shea Weber Busts John Tavares' Nose [Video]

John Tavares said it was a bang-bang play when Shea Weber fell on top of him, causing his nose to be smashed into the ice. 

Tavares said his nose was gushing and that forced him to go through concussion protocol. Tavares briefly went to the locker room, but reappeared a short while later. Afterwards he said he felt good and the damage wasn't too much.

The Toronto Maple Leafs won 4-2 against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday when Justin Holl and Ilya Mikheyev scored 42 seconds apart in the third period.

Auston Matthews extended his point streak to 11 with an assist when Zach Hymanscored into an empty net to make it 4-2 with 1:04 remaining. 

Josh Anderson and Tomas Tatar scored for Montreal, and  Carey Price made 20 saves on the night.

Anderson scored for a fourth straight game, on Montreal's first shot. He drove the right side and scored his ninth goal for a 1-0 lead at 1:16 of the first period.

Toronto tied it at 1-1 at 15:18 of the second period when Travis Dermott scored after the Canadiens were unable to get the puck out of their zone during 4-on-4 play.

Dermott, who missed the past two games because of a leg injury, scored off a wrister marking his first goal since Jan. 2, 2020.

Mikheyev put the Maple Leafs up 2-1 at 1:50 of the third when he scored his first goal since Dec. 27, 2019 during another 4-on-4 sequence.

John Tavares set up Holl's goal that made it 3-1 with a pass back to the right point. Holl carried the puck toward the middle and scored his first goal of the season on a rising slap shot from the top of the slot at 2:32.

Tomas Tatar got the Canadiens within one when he scored his fourth goal at 16:40, but the Canadiens were unable to answer back leading to Hyman's empty net goal.
