Washington Capitals Flashback: Stanley Cup Boobs [Video]

The 2018 Stanley Cup Finals were of mythic proportion, a meeting of two teams one new and one old. Both teams seemed to have carved a clear path to victory but just like Highlander there could be only one.

On one side you had the inaugural season of the Vegas Golden Knights, who's season began with the rally cry of Vegas Strong due to a mass shooting just a month prior to the start of the season. They were written off before the season began and famously referred to as the doormat for the rest of the league. But once the season began this ragtag group of players, led by Marc-Andre Fleury, went on a tear and set every current record for an expansion team. The finished the season first in the division and with a record of 51-24-7.

On the other side you had the Washington Capitals a team that could never quite cut it no matter how many times they looked to be the best team in the league. But this team hit a critical turning point when the Capitals finally beat the Penguins in game six of the second round. The one team that had constantly stood in Washington's way was finally out of the picture and at that moment they knew they could take this team to the finals.

The series between Washington and Vegas began on May 28th 2018. The Vegas Golden Knights had home ice advantage in the series since the Golden Knights won the Pacific Division with 109 points during the regular season, while the Capitals won the Metropolitan Division with 105 points. The Capitals were the favorite heading into the series, but that line of thought would quickly be questioned after game 1.

That first game was a back-and-forth battle for the first two periods, but the game's momentum would shift during the third period and see Vegas score three unanswered goals. Vegas took that first game 6-4 and what many thought would be a easy championship for Washington was now looking like a sweep in Vegas' favor.

However, game two would see a shifting of the tides as one man would step up to make the greatest save of the entire series. Braden Holtby; the reason why game two is such a pivotal moment in the series. If Holtby doesn't shutdown Tuch on that wide open net, then the Knights tie it up and, quite possibly, go up 2-0 in the series. Instead, he makes the save and swings the series even.

The next two games in the series were All Caps and Holtby put on a clinic for all in attendance. Game 3 sees the Caps win 3-1 and in game 4 they win 6-2. It was now clear that the Caps were ending this series with the cup, the only question was when. And for the Caps the answer was game 5 back in Vegas.

Game 5 was no easy feat but thanks to Devante Smith-Pelly scoring a clutch goal, the Caps were able to pull off the win and take the series. Enter the Capitals fan seen around the world...

The handshakes were finished and the cup was on its way out, Bettman approached the mic, called on the Captain, Ovechkin, and away he was with the cup to take his victory lap. This is the moment the Caps fan had been waiting for, she knew these guys had worked hard to win the greatest prize in all of sports, but what could she do to show how appreciative she was of this team as a whole? Her only conclusion; release the twins.

With the team headed her way, and being seated in a prime location, she rolled her white, skin-tight dress down pass her bosom and pressed the twins on the glass. Some will argue that she did this for attention, but I'd like to believe this selfless act was a salute to the Great 8 and him finally getting the chance to hoist lord Stanley over his head. And not just Ovi, but the entire team, this was an act to salute a team that had battled to the bitter end and came out victoriously.

We salute you right back, Caps fan...
