Brady Tkachuk Splits Ben Chiarot's Nose [Fight]
Brady Tkachuk split Ben Chiarot's nose with 6:00 left in the first period of the Canadiens - Senators game Tuesday night.
While chasing the puck into the Canadiens' zone Ben Chiarot laid a massive hit on Brady Tkachuk, sandwiching him against the glass, then throwing him to the ice. Tkachuk, not liking it too much, got up, said let's go and they threw the gloves away.
The two locked-up and Chiarot missed his punch, but Tkachuk landed his. The punch drove Chiarot's visor into his nose, splitting it from left to right, and sent his bucket flying. Chiarot fell backwards and pulled Tkachuk down with him. Tkachuk landed two more punches while they were down, then the linesmen came in and broke it up.
Brady Tkachuk was on fire Tuesday night. Before the fight he had notched a goal and during the third period he potted another one. Montreal came back twice from a two-goal deficit and took the lead midway through the third period. But just a little over two
minutes later, Tkachuk came in and tied it back up for the Senators.
However, the Canadiens thought they had scored the winning goal with three seconds left in the third. It was Brendan Gallagher who redirected a point shot from Chiarot past Matt Murray, but after a video review, officials waved off the goal. The ruling was that Gallagher interfered with Murray prior to the shot being tipped in.
Overtime... Then to shootout.
Josh Norris is the man who brought it home for the Senators. He scored in the third round of the shootout to give Ottawa the win.
The Senators won 5-4 over the Canadiens.
