The newly minted Captain of the Vegas Golden Knights had his first fight of the season with Blues' Justin Faulk. Mark Stone laid a hit on Tyler Bozak at center ice that teammate Faulk took exception to.

The hit was serious enough that Bozak didn't return to the game.

After the hit on Bozak, Stone was given a two-minute interference penalty and the Blues were awarded their third power play of the night. After the penalty expired, Stone jumped into play and was greeted by Faulk who asked him to dance. It wasn't a slobber-knocker of a fight but Faulk looked grateful that Stone answered the bell when asked.

Stone and Faulk each received 2 minute minors for fighting.

St. Louis Blues coach Craig Berube said the forward won’t play Thursday after the hit by Stone and he is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

When Stone was asked about the hit and the fight he said: "We got into kind of a battle in the corner and his elbow came up on me. Then we just jostled coming up the ice and I slammed on the brakes to get in his way. I didn’t expect to fight afterwards. He came after me and we fought."

The St Louis Blues ended the Night with a 5-4 win over the Vegas Golden Knights after a shootout.
